Sepulchre

This was first published in 1987. It has been compared ( in my mind, very loosely) to 'The Spear'. It is however, a far superior story ( again to me anyway).

Our hero is employed as a bodyguard to a psychic who in turn is employed for his abilities to a multi-million pound company. To our man it appears a quite straightforward job but as with all James Herbert stories all is not what it seems.

This is the story of an evil that was around long before the birth of Christianity and also the story of one mans triumph over evil of the oldest kind and also of a younger enemy in that of the IRA.

Who exactly are the psychics mysterious companions and who is 'The Keeper'.

A brilliant book with enough twists and turn to keep the reader wanting more.

'Haunted follows on being published in 1988. This is a good old fashioned ghost story. our main man in this is a psychic investigator who claims that there is an explanation for anything 'unexplained'. until however he is called in to investigate 'hauntings' in a family home. Things appear to be quite 'normal' to begin with but our hero is soon forced into facing up to his own skeletons in the closet and to realise that not everything in life is quite what it seems. A truly scary read especially for those who enjoy 'ghosties and ghoulies and long legged beasties and things that go bump in the night'!!

'Creed' was published in 1990, and the man himself is a journalist whose life we are allowed to view slightly 'tongue-in-cheek'. One day our man takes a photo of something horrific occurring in a cemetery right after the funeral of a 'famous' actress. Soon his life is at risk and that of his young son's as he is sought by a 'cult' that has its origins in biblical times. Hints of the undead are rife but he receives help in overcoming the evil.

Creed is a man with whom we can all identify and very real. A brilliant read as usual.
